La Cala already has the scent of a fair. The seaside town of Mijas is getting ready for its festivities, which will take place from the 26th to the 30th of July, and whose musical programme includes artists such as Celtas Cortos, Antonio Carmona, José Ortega 'Manzanita' and Andy y Lucas, as announced this morning by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Festivities, Tamara Vera (PSOE).
"The La Cala Fair has become an important tourist attraction in our town that year after year receives thousands of people, both residents and visitors who choose our municipality to enjoy their summer holidays during these days. Precisely this multicultural and inclusive nature that La Cala boasts is transferred to the programming of its fair, with an offer of leisure, traditions and gastronomy for all audiences", said González.
For her part, Vera recalled that "in the town we have three fairs, but if there is something that cannot be missing in any of the three are activities as important as the election of the king and queen, the children's party or the dinner tribute to the elderly" and added that music "is one of the main protagonists, with free concerts by artists covering different musical genres, from rock, flamenco or pop, for the enjoyment of our neighbours".
Performances will be offered by Señor Mirinda and the legendary rock band Celtas Cortos on Friday July 28th; flamenco with Manzanita and Antonio Carmona on Saturday July 29th; and Calle Nueva and the famous Cadiz duo Andy y Lucas on Sunday July 30th. All the concerts will take place at the Municipal Booth with free admission until full capacity is reached.
Lighting and Children's Day
The official start of the La Cala Fair will be on Wednesday July 26th with the traditional switching on of the artistic lighting at 22:00 hours, although the party will start a few hours earlier, at 19:30 hours, with the parade of giants and big-heads, which will go through the streets of La Cala. A magical afternoon for the little ones which will continue at the fairground with Children's Day, with attractions at a reduced price.
Meanwhile, the stage of the municipal booth will be inaugurated with the dances by the students from the Universidad Popular taught by Feli Gabriel, Víctor Rojas and Juan Jesús Leiva. The election of the king and queen of the La Cala Fair 2023 is scheduled for 23:30.

From the older ones, to the younger ones again with the children's party on Friday 28th of July, from 20:00 hours, with games, entertainment and a magic performance to liven up the election of the children's king and queens and 'babys'.
