In line with its commitment to sustainability and within its Zero Footprint brand, Costa del Sol Tourism and Planning launched an innovative system that allows visitors to calculate the carbon and water footprint generated during their stay in the destination. Through a simple six-question questionnaire about their trip, tourists can find out their CO₂ emissions and water consumption associated with their visit. This calculator is now operational in all tourist offices in the province that have joined the decarbonization strategy promoted by Costa del Sol Tourism.
These include the offices in Marbella, Estepona, Mijas village and La Cala, Gaucín, Tolox, Rincón de la Victoria, Vélez-Málaga, Álora, and the Tourist Information Center of the Interior of the Málaga Provincial Council. At these service points, visitors have access to informational materials that include a QR code, which allows them to quickly and easily access the digital tool. Through it, they can complete a short questionnaire to calculate the environmental impact of their trip. In addition, the calculator is available on the tourism websites of participating municipalities, with the aim of facilitating its use and maximizing its reach among residents and visitors.
