Good news for Mijas from a tourist point of view, as March closed with a hotel occupancy rate of 63.52%. Although the month was rainier than normal, the figure was five points higher than that recorded in
the same period in 2024, as confirmed by the Costa del Sol Hotel Entrepreneurs Association (Aehcos). In March last year, despite the fact that Holy Week was celebrated, the occupancy rate was 58.41%, which means that the municipality continues to show good data in terms of tourism.
As for the tourist offices located in Mijas Pueblo and La Cala, during this month up to 13,568 people requested information, especially Spanish, British and Canadian visitors. These figures have been highly valued by the mayoress of Mijas, Ana Mata (PP), who highlighted the work carried out by all the agents involved in this sector so that Mijas continues to be a tourist reference. “The month of March has been very rainy and even so the figures are very positive, as they are better than in 2024. This shows that Mijas is a leading municipality, which is consolidating itself as a benchmark thanks to the work carried out by all the agents involved in tourism”, explained the mayoress. For his part, the vice president of Aehcos in Mijas, Juan Miguel Marcos, advanced the forecasts for the month of April, which are going up in a very striking way, reaching 80.55%. “We hope to have a good Holy Week and we are very prepared to face the arrival of tourists at this key time of the year”, he said.
