Mijas - Mijas, third municipality in Malaga with highest hotel occupancy in August with almost 95%
According to Aehcos, our town has been one of the six municipalities of the region that has exceeded 90%

The Costa del Sol Hotel Entrepreneurs Association (Aehcos) in its latest report states that hotel occupancy during the month of August was almost 91%, two points higher than in August 2023. They also point out that Mijas, with 94.19%, is among the six municipalities in the province with the best records, after Benalmádena (97.64%) and Fuengirola (95.22%). Torremolinos (93.76%), Marbella (92.55%) and Málaga city (92.48%) also exceed 90% occupancy. In the case of Mijas, the forecast for August was 80%, a figure that has been exceeded by almost 15 points.
On the other hand, the percentage of international tourists stands out, 60%, compared to the percentage of national tourists (40%). However, the average Gross Impact per Hosted Client, 'Impacto Bruto Medio por Cliente Alojado', (IBCA), has decreased slightly by almost ten euros, being 135.76 euros in August 2024, compared to 143.51 euros in the same month of 2023.
Forecasts
Regarding the forecast for the coming months, Aehcos is cautious, estimating an occupancy rate of 88.74% for September, a figure slightly higher than last year (86.75%), while for October it expects a drop of just over one point, from 83.71% in October 2023 to 82.34% in October 2024.
