The Mijas Town Hall is renewing the informative signage along the coastline, something that, as the councillor for Beaches, Daniel Gómez Teruel (PP), said this morning, "has not been done since 2017". There are 27 panels indicating the services offered by each beach, the current regulations and the characteristics of the environment. This measure, to the benefit of residents and visitors, also allows us to "comply with the requirements for obtaining the Q for Quality certificate and blue flags", said the councillor.

These panels can be found at the entrance to each of the beaches of Mijas and, according to Gómez Teruel, "they indicate all the services that each beach offers. We have also put up a number of indicators to measure the quality of the water, which is required by the European Community, so that we can achieve the desired 'Q'. We are examining beach by beach, also for its fauna and flora, to value it, as our coast could be the richest of the Costa del Sol and we must also promote it". And the fact is that in Mijas, for example, the councillor recalled, "there are species that we do not find in other places, such as the kentish plover".

There are almost thirty panels spread along the 12 kilometres of Mijas coastline offering information on both sides. "The panel on each beach tells you the characteristics of each one, the fauna and flora on it, the services provided and the compliance with regulations that we are required to comply with, both by the Andalusian Regional Government and at state and European level", stressed Gómez Teruel.

The panels also include QR codes, which allow information to be updated, such as "all the actions that are being carried out or all the new regulations that are being introduced; you can find out about them through the QR codes", concluded the councillor.

This signage also provides other information such as emergency telephone numbers, advice on how to protect our skin depending on the level of ultraviolet radiation or tourist information.
