The owners of the golf courses take a step forward by joining forces to draw up work lines

The First Deputy Mayor and Mijas Tourism Councillor, José Carlos Martín (Cs), next to the Sports Councillor, Andrés Ruiz (Cs), presented the new Association of Mijas Golf Courses this morning next to a representative of the Mijas golf courses, specifically with El Chaparral Golf. The new association was created to design common working strategies for the golf courses. "Last year, jointly with the Tourism Department, the owners of the golf courses and the Town Hall created the brand 'Mijas, Sun and Golf'. This year, they have joined to form an association and jointly promote their businesses. This is great news because this synergy makes us look stronger as a destination and attract more visitors," says Martín.

Mijas is currently participating in the International Golf Travel Market (IGTM) in Rome, where it has set up a stand to promote the segment as a tourist destination. "The meetings we are having are very productive and. Furthermore, we are pleased to serve as support for our golf courses which, if they wish, can make use of our space for work meetings and gatherings. Public-private collaboration is essential for all of us to move forward and consolidate our position in this market," the Deputy Mayor added.

Ruiz said, "besides all these national and international promotional activities, the Sports Department is promoting this sport among all ages". He added that "the foundations have already been laid for the Mijas golf school".

In this sense, the Sports Councillor wanted to emphasise that "although golf attracts a tourist profile of middle and high purchasing power, it is a more affordable sport than it may seem at first glance, so the Council is going to promote its practice in the municipality".

Both Councillors had meetings again this morning. The protagonist was the new website: "We have to continue promoting our portal to the world, as is this website which brings together all our golfing offer in four different languages (Spanish, English, German, and Swedish) and which is one of the most accessible tools available to our potential clients", concludes Martín.
