August came to an end, and with it, the Mijas Tapas Route. After two months of summer full of gastronomy, crafts, and shows, it is time to take stock and reward those who completed the route and stamped their Tapasport. More than 900 Tapasports were handed into the Tourist Office, and for it, they received an entrance ticket to AquaMijas and a beach cooler. This year, the route was made up of seven restaurants and tapas bars that surpassed previous editions. José Carlos Martín (Cs), Councillor for Tourism, praised the activity: “With the Mijas Tapas Route, we have been able to see on the one hand the local gastronomy with these impressive tapas that the tourists who have visited us, and on the other hand our street market that accompanies the showsof ‘Live Mijas by Night’ that goes around the tapas route”. After the years of the pande mic, this summer has been encouraging for our tourism, Juan Carlos Acevedo, head of the Mijas Tourism Department announced: “We are satisfied, the tourism recovery has been confirmed during the summer. We have had a large number of international tourists, British, that is to say, that little by little we are recovering all the visitors’ figures”. At the closing of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’, the entertainment was provided by the Víctor Rojas and Reme Fernández Flamenco groups. After the performance, the long-awaited raffle took place, and 20 prizes were awarded, including a weekend in a Ronda winery and the winner’s weight in beer. “We have won a night in a flat in Mijas, and we are delighted to tell you the truth. We have been participating in this route for eight years now. We live in Las Lagunas and come to this Mijas Pueblo initiative. We have cast six ballots each, and we are happy with the prize”, said one of the winners, Enrique Romero.
