The national reference centres are state-level public centres specialised in the different productive sectors

The Council of Ministers approved last Tuesday 15th, at the proposal of the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, the qualification of the Andalusian Centre for Integral Training of the Leisure Industries of Mijas (CIOMijas) as a National Reference Centre (CRN) in the family of hospitality and tourism in the field of Vocational Training. “Yesterday, [Tuesday], we received very good news for Mijas, for the Costa del Sol and Andalusia, and that is that the Council of Ministers in ordinary session approved the re-categorisation of the Mijas Leisure Industries Centre as a National Reference Centre for Vocational Training and this is an important boost, not only to its workers but also to all the joint work that we have been developing between the local and regional administration, to enhance the value of these facilities,” said Mayor Josele Gonzalez (PSOE). “This is going to be a turning point in the training, that is going to take place in these facilities”, added the Employment Councillor, Laura Moreno (PSOE). For his part, the Director of the Territorial Employment Area of the western area of Malaga, Carlos Blanco, said that “the most important thing is, that we are no longer going to be a centre to use but we have become a centre that is going to experiment, that is going to observe the market”. In other words, it will serve to detect new professional qualifications, promote collaboration networks with companies, or participate in the evaluation and accreditation procedures of professional competencies, among others.
