Mijas - THE COAST IS PREPARED FOR THE SUMMER
Measures to prevent COVID-19 will once again be priorities in the action plan of the Local Government
The Beach Council in the Mijas Town Hall is already fine-tuning the lines of action for this summer on the Mijas coastline. The councillor in charge of the department, José Carlos Martín(Cs), chaired last Monday, March 22nd, the online work meeting of the managing board for Beaches of the Local Government, where all the lines of work to be followed were put on the table, aimed towards implementing the quality of the beaches in Mijas for the 2021 season. “Given the exceptional circumstances that we are in as a result of the pandemic, we have reinforced even more if possible, our efforts on the beaches. The safety of users in all areas is essential for us and we have to be prepared with a view to the summer so that whatever the circumstances may be, we can be prepared and act quickly”, assured the councillor.
In addition to those responsible for beaches, other municipal departments in charge of the maintenance, cleaning and security of the coast of Mijas participated in the meeting, as well as professionals from the sector and the person in charge of the OCA Global audit in the municipality. “Quality is essential now more than ever in such a competitive market within the ‘sun and beach’ segment and at the same time with fewer visitors due to mobility restrictions. Users are seeking clean environmental surroundings where water and sand, as essential elements, take on special importance. We advocate excellence as a differential marker, as well as safety”, added Martín. The local Administration, he assured, will continue to fight for the quality distinctions obtained, which it defends with each measure put into action, pampering the Mijas coastline every day. “We have been awarded the ‘Safe Tourism Certifi ed’ distinction for the measures put in place to prevent COVID-19 on our beaches, which provides guarantees to visitors.
