Mijas - 3,000 artisan plant pots for Mijas village
Pasaje de las Golondrinas, callejón del Cura and calle San Sebastián are just some of the locations newly decorated
The mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillor for Parks and Gardens, Laura Moreno (PSOE), reported on Tuesday 29th the latest actions that have been carried out within the framework of the municipal Beautification Plan, which is being promoted in the historic centre of the village and that will include the placing of up to 3,000 decorative plant pots. “If in November we presented a floral mural on the tile on the staircase of the Cantón passage, made by ceramic artisan Alicia Guerrero, today we present the improvements that have been carried out in different corners of our village such as the Pasaje de Las Golondrinas, Plaza de los Siete Caños, Calle San Sebastián, Calvario, Algarrobo or Paca La Churrera”, pointed out González. In addition, in this second phase, some 40 large flowerpots will be installed in locations such as Pasaje Cantón, in the surroundings of the Court or on the Plaza de los Siete Caños, and the planters and flowerpots near the old barracks on Málaga Street and Pasaje del Cura will be restored. “We want to value the many unique spaces and corners of the municipality to improve its image and, at the same time, generate expectation in those who visit us, creating a unique route that goes beyond the central streets of Mijas Pueblo”, said the mayor. Finally, González announced that “this plan will include the beautification of points such as the access from the Plaza de la Constitución to the Open University, as well as the railings at the entrance to the library”.
