Mijas has closed its beach season for this aty-pical 2020 marked by the COVID-19 pandemic and is already working towards next year. On Thursday 5th, the beach management team met online, where it was announced that the results of the audits carried out along the coastline to obtain different quality certifi cations next year have been positive, and Mijas will continue to maintain next year the level of excellence it has shown on its coast this summer.

The Beaches councillor, José Carlos Martín (C’s), advanced that, despite not knowing what the scenario of the next summer period will be like, from the department they continue to work to open the beaches at Easter “if everything goes well”, or adapt to the circumstances if not possible and all with the best quality on the coast. In this regard, he pointed out that the results of the audits to achieve the blue flags, the ‘Q’ for Quality and other certifications, such as the new Safe Tourism Certified, “have been satisfactory”.

The councillor also recalled everything done to reduce the incidence of the pandemic in Mijas, highlighting “the control of capacity on the beaches through drones or controllers”.

Martín thanked the work of both the municipal staff and the private sector. “The work by everyone is what makes us have these certifications and makes Mijas, from the point of view of the quality of its beaches, a benchmark”, concluded Martín, who also thanked the citizens for complying with the security measures established to put a stop to the pandemic.
