Last Friday the 4th the offi cial act for the awarding of the concessions to the Malaga beach bars by the Regional Government was organised in Fuengirola. The act was attended by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE), and the councillors for Beaches and Town Planning, José Carlos Martín (Cs) and Andrés Ruiz (Cs), respectively. With regard to Mijas, there are three establishments that have achieved the license this year: Papa O, Los Morenos and La Familia. “From the local government we can and must support this key sector in a municipality like ours and which has become a hallmark and benchmark of quality as regards local gastronomy”, said the mayor, “within this line of action, we are working to continue positioning our municipality as a benchmark”. For his part, Martín pointed out that “these businesses are a fundamental part of the local economy, as well as a tourist attraction that enriches the range of possibilities that Mijas offers”. “Gastronomy is a very important segment and the beach bars are authentic emblems of the most typical and special recipes. From the local Administration we are going to continue supporting them because now is when they need our help most”, said the councillor. Finally, Ruiz valued “this new step that these three establishments have just taken as well as the effort of all the beach bars” and highlighted that “through Town Planning the PGOU has already been modifi ed to contemplate these establishments in our ordinance, and this has opened the door for the Junta de Andalucía to grant these occupation concessions on the coast”.
