Mijas - Tourism increases the number of flamenco shows in Mijas Village
As a measure to reinforce tourism, the department in charge has wanted to increase the number of fl amenco shows that are held in Mijas Village on the Plaza Virgen de la Peña. This is how the area councilor, José Carlos Martín (C’s), explained this August 13th: “What we are going to do is reinforce our events even more. Therefore, we are going to increase the show that took place in the morning in the Plaza Virgen de la Peña, so that every Wednesday at 10 pm it will be held to complement the morning shows”. The Azabache group will be in charge of entertaining the summer nights and filling Mijas Pueblo with flamenco and art.
Although the tourist visiting Mijas is mostly national, the department is implementing measures to attract more tourism. “The influx of tourists is less than we would like to have: we have information from the Tourist Office. However, we are optimistic for the month of August and even September”, said Martín. The councillor for Tourism also wanted to “encourage tourists to get to know Mijas”, adding that “we are going to put signs on our highway so that everyone comes to get to know Mijas, especially international tourists”.
