In addition to these awards, the municipality once again displays nine ‘Q’ for quality flags that value aspects such as the cleanliness of the water and the sand.

It is now official: the Mijas coastline has three blue flags and nine ‘Q’ for Quality flags that certify its excellent condition. In an act held on July 6th in the Granada town of Almuñécar, the acknowledgements were presented to all the Andalusian beaches that have been awarded this certificate, among which the municipality of Mijas was present. Mijas is once again consolidated, as a provincial benchmark as regards the quality of its coastline and these distinctions corroborate and add to all the benefits that the coast of Mijas already has to offer, as assessed by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE ), and the councillor for Beaches, José Carlos Martín (C’s). For another year, the municipality revalidates its three blue flags on the beaches of La Cala- Torreón, El Bombo and Calahonda I-Royal Beach-La Luna. For the mayor of Mijas, both the blue flags and the ‘Q’s’ for quality, “are undoubtedly great news for our municipality, as they position us as benchmarks of quality both for our resources and for the services we provide at the destination.the beaches of La Cala- Torreón, El Bombo and Calahonda I-Royal Beach-La Luna.
