Mijas - SHUTTLE BUS
The shuttle bus that connects the Cantera del Puerto with the centre of Mijas Village is now available.
The councillor for Transport and Mobility at the Mijas Town Hall, Nicolás Cruz (PSOE), announced on July 1st that from that day until September 30th the shuttle bus service that connects the El Puerto quarry with the centre of Mijas Village. “This year and at the request of the merchants and muleteers of the town it has been decided that visitors can get off in front of the Virgen de la Peña square so that in this way they can directly enjoy the wide offer of the muni-cipality”, announced the councillor, adding that “It is a direct service that is free, as well as safe and with which we offer parking options to the public that comes to visit us”. It should be remembered that the shuttle bus last year broke user records (60,000 people used it) and it is an alternative to public parking and parking on public roads.
On the other hand, the established schedule will be from 11 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon and from 3 in the afternoon to 12 midnight, while the frequency of each trip is established at 15 minutes. “When we have activities of general interest, this schedule will be extended during the night and, even on peak days, it will be reinforced with up to 3 vehicles that will work simultaneously”. Regarding the security measures, from ‘Vía Pública’ they emphasize that the use of masks inside the bus will be mandatory, which will have a rigorous cleaning and hygiene protocol, “attending to the sanitary recom-mendations that are established by the competent authorities and they will adapt according to the situations that arise”, explained the councillor. These shuttle buses are environmentally friendly vehicles, which are also easily accessible for persons with reduced mobility. They have a capacity for 30 passengers and are equipped with the latest generation air conditioning system. “This is a commitment to sustainable mobility and represents an improvement in the fluidity of traffic in the municipality, which last year visitors rated as excellent, giving priority to pedestrians during the summer”, said Juan Antonio Jiménez, manager of the service concession company, Autobuses Paco Pepe.
