Although it has been almost one year since the Regional Government in Andalusia agreed to grant eleven Mijas Artisan Workshops the distinction as “Zone of Artisan Interest”, from now on the plaque that accredits this will be shown on their facades. On Friday 17th, the offi cial awarding of the distinctions by the Delegate for Employment and Economy of the Andalusian Government, Carmen Sánchez, took place accompanied by the mayor of Mijas, Josele González (PSOE). This title is awarded by the Ministry for Economy, Knowledge, Business, and Universities, after being evaluated and supported by the Craft Commission, where the artisan sector, economic and social agents and members of the Andalusian Government are represented.“This implies that Mijas has a high number of artisans per square metre. That is the reason for the recognition and, in addition, they are artisans who meet the required quality standards and who produce or work with genuine or different products”, explained the delegate for the Regional Government du-ring her visit to Mijas.
