The Tourism Area and the businesses of Mijas Village present the 11th edition of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ in which 12 establishments participate.

Twelve establishments of Mijas Vi-llage in which to taste ten tapas or two ice cream parlours make up the participants in the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ this year, an initiative framed within the Vive Mijas de Noche programme that starts on Tuesday 2nd and which the Town Hall presented on Thursday 27th at the Folk Museum, together with the Association of Business Persons of Mijas Pueblo (ACIM) and representatives of the establishments involved.

The acting mayor of Mijas, Juan Carlos Maldonado (C’s), recalled that the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’ in Mijas Village “emerged at a difficult economic time, but must be strengthened, as it consolidates the gastronomic commitment that the municipality has and our restaurateurs offer and creates loyalty among tourists”. The acting mayor recalled that gastronomic tourism is one of the segments that must be strengthened according to the Strategic Tourism Plan for the municipality. Precisely one of the objectives of the ‘Ruta de la Tapa’, which is now in its eleventh edition, is to promote the participating businesses. The head of the Department for Tourism of the Mijas Town Hall, Juan Carlos Acevedo, explained in this regard that the intention “is that the establishments show their best sides and get customers to try new things and see the quality they offer”. In addition, he thanked the effort made by the dozen establishments involved, as with their participation “they do not earn money”, although the reward they obtain is that “in the long term people get to know them”.The president of the Association of Business Persons of Mijas Pueblo (ACIM), José Moreno, corroborated the words of Acevedo and recalled that one of the conditions to participate in this gastronomic route of Mijas Village is that the establishments are members of the ACIM and “comply with the established schedules”.
