Our municipality has been present at the International Tourism Fair with a work agenda focused on the consolidation of its ample tourist offer.
As in every edition, and there have now been 39, the presence of the delegation from Mijas in FITUR has meant intense days of hard work, with meetings and presentations, which will soon pay off. This year, Mijas has come to the main event within the tourism sector in Spain with a clear objective, to consolidate our municipality as one of the favourite destinations for tourists who arrive at the Costa del Sol. The Mayor of Mijas, Juan Carlos Maldonado (C’s), has led the group from Mijas at the fair, which has prepared a work agenda this year focused on attracting national tourists, putting an end to seasonality and enhancing its value and ample tourist offer. With the slogan ‘Mijas, Sensations all year round’, the municipality’s promotional strategy has been enriched by the promotion of sports tourism and nature, the enhancement of the craftsmanship of the municipality, its wide range of cuisine and the promotion of different microsegments associated with the white Mediterranean Village. “Mijas is a municipality that offers a range of possibilities to our visitors and we have to value all those segments. Crafts and gastronomy are the main protagonists promoted this year by Mijas in FITUR. The important thing is to attract tourists throughout the year and thus generate employment and wealth in the municipality”, said the mayor, who stressed the importance of joint efforts by different institutions such as the Provincial Council and the Regional Government in Andalusia to promote the Costa del Sol destination in this edition of the fair. This year, the stand representing Mijas was located next to other municipalities in the area dedicated to Tourism and Planning Costa del Sol, within the Andalusian pavilion, with the aim to join forces and create synergies with neighbouring towns for the starting up of joint initiatives among the different destinations on the Costa del Sol. In 2019, Andalusia has doubled the area dedicated to the business networks, with special attention given to tourism companies using new technologies. The fair has registered an 8.3% growth in this edition, with the participation of 886 regular exhibitors and more than 10,487 companies from 165 countries and regions around the world.
The delegation from Mijas in FITUR presented the new video for the campaign ‘Mijas, sensations all year round’. Elaborated by Mijas Comunicación, this video, with which our municipality was the protagonist of the stand representing the Costa del Sol on the second day of the fair, the tourist attractions of the municipality are shown, with special attention given to its charm as a white Mediterranean village, its crafts and gastronomy and its excellent climate during the twelve months of the year.
