The town spans throughout the lands between the mountain range from where it takes its name and the sea, the relatively short distance between its tallest hill (1,151 meters "Mijas Peak") and the sea shore results in a complex orography. Ravines, hills and gentle knolls still preserve part of the autochthonous vegetation.
